Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory of
William Dobbie
March 15, 1927 – December 23, 2018
Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at Scarborough General Hospital. Bill, in his 92nd year, beloved husband for 62 years to Marjorie (nee Abernethy), devoted and loving father of Karen (Daly), cherished and supportive grandpa to Meredith and Daniel. Bill was the ultimate fixer, planner, and best man for the job to family, friends and neighbours over the years. He delighted in his garden; was happiest in the middle of a project and never went anywhere without his tool box. 65 year member of IBEW, Local 353 (Comstock International). Predeceased by his parents, James and Jean Dobbie (Glenmavis, Scotland) and sisters and brothers-in-law, May and Jack Flanagan (Toronto) and Isabel and James Jamieson (Dunblane, Scotland). Survived by nieces and nephew, Laura and David McClymont (Dunblane, Scotland) Iain and Avril Jamieson (Troon, Scotland) and Jane and Ed Tilling (Barrie) and extended family members of the Dobbie clan (Fergus) and the Muir and McCrone families (Glenmavis, Scotland). Sincere appreciation to Bill’s caregivers Maxine, Ampi and the staff at Shepherd Village. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Scarborough General Hospital or Shepherd Village would be appreciated by Bill’s family. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at the Highland Funeral Home, Scarborough Chapel, 3280 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough, 416-773-0933 on Sunday, January 6th from 1pm-4pm.
