Obituary for Warren Jollimore
Warren L. Jollimore, age 86, of Lunenburg, passed away peacefully, March 22, 2018 in Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.
Born in Mill Cove, NS, he was the son of the late Warren and Agnes (Whynot) Jollimore.
Warren Spent his entire working life in the insurance business, having begun his career as an after-school office boy with A J Haliburton and Company in Halifax. His career as an Independent Insurance Adjuster began in 1957. In 1959, Basil MacKay and Warren incorporated MacKay-Jollimore Adjusters Limited. The firm expanded to include offices in Halifax, Dartmouth, Charlottetown, Windsor, Montreal and Toronto.
Warren served on various Boards of Directors and with a number of organizations including the Dartmouth Kiwanis Club, Neptune Theatre as Treasurer and as Vice-President, Mermaid Theatre as President, Symphony Nova Scotia as a Board member and Chairman of the Subscription Committee.
He served on the board of the South Shore Players and with the Arts Council of Nova Scotia.
During his insurance career he served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Insurance Institute of Nova Scotia and on the Board of the Insurance Institute of Canada. He was President of the Society of Fellows of the Insurance Institute of Canada and in 1974 earned the designation Chartered Loss Adjuster, granted by the Canadian Independent Adjusters Association.
During his years in Lunenburg from 1995, Warren served on the Board of the Lunenburg Board of Trade and chaired a committee which in cooperation with the Town of Lunenburg built the Town’s Information Centre and public washroom. He served on the Lunenburg Development Commission and represented the Town of Lunenburg Queens Regional Development Agency.
Warren was an avid reader and enjoyed classical music.
He is survived by his beloved companion and best friend, Anne (Baggs) and by his children, Sheila Bisaha (Michigan, and her children, Andrew and Charles), Patrick, Wolfville, Mary, Bellville, Ontario, Kevin (Vienna), Halifax, Elizabeth, Halifax, Alan, Halifax, Allison, Toronto, and brother, Murray of Wolfville.
At Warren’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service or visitation. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
