Obituary Overview
Walter (Wally) Ewoniak
Ewoniak, Walter (Wally)
(June 21, 1941 – March 13, 2018)
Wally passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the University of Alberta Hospital with family by his side. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Iris; his daughter Lesley (Kevin Grover); and his grandchildren Taylor and Cale; who all brought him great joy. He is also survived by his brother Harry (Florence) Ewoniak, and sister Vi (Ray) Miller; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Wally was predeceased by his parents John and Eudokia Ewoniak, and his brother Mike.
Wally was born and raised in Willingdon, Alberta. He settled in Edmonton and then married Iris in 1970. By trade he was an accountant for 30 years before switching to promotional sales in the 90’s. This career move suited his uncanny ability to talk to anyone. Sports was a passion for him. If it was winter you would find him at the curling rink; during the summer, it was at the ball diamond or the golf course. If there was not a game on, you could bet he was on the tractor at the acreage.
He will be remembered by all for his good nature, and great smile. He was always there when family and friends needed a hand.
We are grateful for all the compassionate care and support given to Wally and our family by the doctors and nurses at the University Hospital. Many thanks as well to the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital and Homecare.
There will be a funeral service held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior at Evergreen Funeral Home, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton. (Access via 153 Avenue). Following the service Wally will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute or the Canadian Diabetes Association in memory of Wally.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Walter Wally Ewoniak 2018.source
