Violet received her primary school at a one room school house in Poplar Grove, N.S. near her family home. She then went on to complete her high school grades at Windsor Academy and then she completed a secretarial course at Windsor School of Business. Vi worked at Simpsons (Sears) in Halifax for 4 years as a secretary in the traffic department where she later met her future husband Harold. Harold built their first home in Lively where they resided. Vi worked as a secretary at Trinity Church, Lively.
