Obituary of Veronica O’Brien
O’BRIEN, Veronica – Peacefully passed away with her loving family by her side on Thursday, October 18th, 2018 at the Welland Hospital at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Joseph (2017). Cherished mother of Kathleen (Tom) Barnes. Loving Grandma of Ethan and Christian. Veronica will be sadly missed by her sister Bette Rowles of Burlington, her sister in law Kathleen Morley and by her in-laws, Gordon and Betty Barnes. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews here and abroad. Veronica was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and a member of the Catholic Women’s League. People will remember Veronica for her elegance, grace and kindness. She will be forever missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all of the Team in The Woolcott Wing at the Welland Hospital, as well as the P.S.W. and Nursing Students from Niagara College for all of their care and compassion. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Sunday, October 21st from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place at 3p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 169 St. Paul Crescent, St. Catharines on Monday, October 22nd at 11a.m. Burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations to St. Mary of the Assumption Church would be appreciated by the family.
