1930-2018
Verna Norma Ward – 87, of North Alton, passed away
peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in the
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on October 12, 1930 in
Coldbrook, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Evelyn (Mitchell)
Best. She had been employed with Canada Foods, Ells Brothers, the Nova
Scotia Sanatorium and Scottie’s Chip Plant. She enjoyed
knitting, puzzles, playing 45’s and most of all spending
time with family. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Baines,
North Kentville; Margaret (Joseph) Hodorek, Calgary; Sharon Johnson
(Paul Doherty), North Alton; Shelley (George) Graves; North Alton;
son, Kevin (Tara) Ward, North Alton; grandchildren, Scott Baines,
Stephanie (Dave) Witherall, Trevor Graves, Corey Graves (Elyssa
Schofield), Sarah (Perry) Levy, Daniel Hodorek, Nicholas Ward, Rebeca
Ward and Emily Ward; five great-grandchildren Lucie Levy, Livia Levy,
Corey Graves Jr., Serenity Graves and Hunter Graves; a
sister, Rosalie (Bradley) Foote, Centreville; and several nieces and
nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd; brothers, Almond,
Bernard, Gordon, Shirley, and Stewart; sons-in-law, Howard Johnson and
Lloyd “Skip” Baines. There will be no visitation, by
request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at
2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the White Family Funeral Home
Kentville. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam
Mill, Kings County. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be
made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. Arrangements have
been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, and Cremation
Services, Kentville.
