Vaughn E.M. Atkinson
1936-2018
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden
passing of our Dad and Gramp, Vaughn Edward Milton
Atkinson, 81, at his home in Springhill on Sunday, June
17, 2018. Born in Southampton, NS, Vaughn was the son of the late
Victor and Clara (Brown) Atkinson.
Vaughn had spent twelve years in the Royal Canadian Air Force
as an Aircraft Electrician prior to returning home and joining his
father’s business, V. Atkinson Electric. A meticulous and patient
electrician and mentor, he had a hand in starting many careers. In
1985, he moved with his family to Halifax and worked with the Halifax
Police Department, then finished his working life at the Halifax
International Airport.
He was an active supporter of everything his children and
grandchildren participated in, as well as many of the local children.
He was a good man who was always ready to lend a hand within the
community.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Paul (Tanya)
Atkinson, Ellen Stevens, and Karen (Lawrence Pye) Atkinson; eight
grandchildren, Marianne, Amanda, Micheal, Daniel, Heather, Douglas,
Chelsea, and Faith; nine great grandchildren; his special friend,
Eileen; two sisters, Helen (Robert) Gilroy, and Vicki (David)
Choisnet, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of
