In the evening of September 9, 2018, Hank Thompson passed away peacefully at the age of 83.
Hank is survived by Lila, his wife of 60 years; his daughters Cheryl (Murray) and Lana; and his son Ted (JoAnne). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Murray James (Liu), Mathew, Riley and Madison and great-grandchildren Ellyana, Melody and Ashton. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Maud and Henry, his friend and son-in-law Andy Hofer, and his nine siblings.
Hank was born in Shell River, Manitoba. He proudly served his country in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). After leaving the RCAF, he started a new career in the aircraft industry taking his family to Ottawa, Gimli and Brampton. His career changed directions when he moved to Fort McMurray in 1978. Hank and Lila retired to Wetaskiwin in 2001.
Hank was a shrewd card player, skilled dart thrower, talented gardener and gifted woodworker. Hank was an active member of every community he lived in and will be sorely missed at the Anglican Church and Royal Canadian Legion.
The Family would like to thank the staff at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Center and especially his family physician, Dr. Ward.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care at the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation in memory of Hank Thompson.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #86, Wetaskiwin.
