Thomas Edward Wallace 19342018

Thomas Edward Wallace
1934-2018
Wallace, Thomas Edward, 84, of Antigonish and formerly of
Heatherton passed away peacefully on June 28, 2018, in the R.K.
MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish, with his family at his
side.
Born May 22, 1934 in Merland, Guysborough County, he was a
son of the late Owen Stephen and Annie (Haley) Wallace.
Coming from a large family of 12 brothers and sisters, he
learned from an early age that work was a part of life. He
had a love of horses, a deep faith, and a love of music; which he
carried with him right to the end. Cards and checkers were a
favourite pastime. He didn’t like to
lose and very seldom did.
He lived on Afton Road in Heatherton for most of his life
before moving to Greenwold Manor and then to the R.K. MacDonald
Nursing Home, where he lived the last 13 years of his life.
He was truly happy there. He made many friends and received
the best of care.
His early years, he worked in the woods for
MacCullugh’s Lumber, CN Rail, and finally with the
Department of Transportation until his retirement.
He is survived by his sons, John Owen (Claire Reeves), Tyrus
(Stacey Farrell), Robert (Karen Grant), and George, all of Antigonish;
daughters, Carmelita (Barry) MacInnis, Purl Brook; Marilyn (Anna
MacDonald), North Ogden; and Carolyn (Darrell Ogilvie), Harbourville;
12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Ambrose, New
France, and Brother Thomas (OSA), Mary Lake, ON; sisters, Beatrice,
Merland, and Julia, Springfield.
Predeceased his stepmother, Vertie (Greencorn) Wallace;
brothers, Malcolm, Owen, William Patrick, and Arthur; sisters, Rita,
Theresa, Emily, and Hilda.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in
C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be
held Monday in Immaculate Conception Church at 11:00am, Reverend
Andrew Gillies presiding. Burial in St. Patrick’s
Cemetery, Merland.
Family flowers only, please. In lieu of flowers,
donations to the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home Foundation, the Heart and
Stroke Foundation, or charity of choice appreciated.
