SPRACKETT, THEODORE “TED” LAWRENCE
Ted passed away peacefully on April 17, 2018 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre after a long and full life. Ted worked full time in the Sprackett family lumber business in Gilmour, Ontario from the age of 15 until he joined CN Rail in 1951 as a telegraph operator. His career took Ted and his family to various communities across southern Ontario including Belleville and Peterborough as well as Winnipeg. He rose through the ranks and retired in 1987 as National Accounts Executive for CNX Trucking in Toronto. Ted worked another 8 years as an executive with Meyers Transport in Peterborough until retiring once again. Ted coached and umpired minor league fastball in Ontario for many years. He was a member at Pine Crest Golf Club and served on the Executive of the CN Pensioners Association and the Telegraph Club. He was a big charming man with a warm handshake or hug and always a joke or a tall tale to tell. We all share wonderful memories of summers at St. Ola Lake and Weslemkoon Lake waterskiing and playing music. Ted played the piano, and rarely did a day go by that he wasn’t heard whistling or singing. We will miss him with all our hearts. Ted was predeceased by his son Dan and second wife JoAnne. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Farideh, former wife Lois and their children Tony, John (Anne), Kelly (Bob); Farideh’s son John, JoAnne’s sons James (Kamla) and Charles (Mariah); Ted’s brother Keith (Marg) and sister Marian Henry; grandchildren Zac (Emely), Amanda, and Eliza; step grandchildren Christian, Brayden, Kyla and Kimberly, Taylor and Riley; and great grandchildren Kieren, Kaeli, Dexter, Harlan, Amity, and Cleya; step great grandchildren Nicholas, Kaleb and Mia as well as his many friends and extended family. We will celebrate Ted’s life on what would have been his 88th birthday, Saturday, April 28 at 11 am, Grace United Church, 581 Howden St, Peterborough. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Grace United Church. Arrangements entrusted to COMSTOCK-KAYE LIFE CELEBRATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street.
