Stan Archambault passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Stan was born on July 2, 1940 in High River, Alberta. He was raised in the small town of Blackie, Alberta, where he enjoyed playing baseball and helping his parents at their diner. He met the love of his life, Fran, in the summer of 1961, and they spent their courtship writing letters and making late night calls while Stan was in Toronto receiving his hairdressing certificate. They married November 9, 1963, in Carbon, Alberta.
Stan and Fran had three children; Rob, Michelle, and Don and were ahead of their time as a two-income household with Stan at the Chinook Barber Shop and Fran working as an emergency room nurse. He was happiest spending his free time with family, scuba diving, camping, biking and playing cards. His love of sports endured throughout his adult life. He refereed minor hockey for over 20 years, coached ringette and saw almost every game the Calgary Hitmen played.
Stan remained at the Chinook Barber shop for 45 years, where he listened and shared in the stories of his client’s lives. After retiring he enjoyed taking his grandchildren on camping adventures and sharing his love of the outdoors.
Stan is survived by his wife Frances, his brother-in-law Jim, his children: Robert (Leanna), Michelle (John Louis), Donald (Tanya) and his grandchildren: Mackenzie, Alexandra, Brooke, Mathew and Morgan. Stan was predeceased by his parents, Eli and Rita and his sister Lorraine.
Stan’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Fairview Unit at Southwood Nursing Home, who provided a supportive and caring environment for the last 9 months of his life.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, (Prairie View Chapel, 1605 – 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
