Obituary for Sandra Nelson
Nelson, Sandra
October 30, 1941- December 6, 2018
Our beloved Nana will be sadly missed by daughter Aileen, her husband Kevin Buis, and grandsons Samuel and Henry. She is predeceased by her husband Geoffrey (2004), her parents Young Jim Larkin and Josephine, her brother Peter, and her sisters Betty and Hilda. She will be lovingly remembered by her family members in Ireland and by her extended family, the Buis’.
Sandra was born in Dublin, and came to Canada in 1967 where she met her husband. They lived in Sudbury for 35 years. During her years there, Sandra worked as a lab technologist in the Blood Bank at Sudbury Memorial Hospital and built many lasting friendships. Sandra moved to Guelph in 2006 to be with her daughter and family. She enjoyed many happy gatherings with the Newcomers club, Book club, Potluck club, Bridge club, and the Hunt club. She cherished her dogs Hailey and Spencer. She loved to watch tennis and curling on the TV, gardening, birdwatching, and reading. She will be fondly remembered for making excellent Christmas cookies, her “Nana” blankets, and devotion to her grandsons.
Friends will be received at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph, on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Donations to the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Donation cards are available at the funeral home (519-821-5077), or online condolences may be left at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com.
May the winds of love blow softly
