In loving memory of Ruth Mary Laming who passed away suddenly on Monday 18 June 2018 with family and friends by her side at Cowichan District Hospital. Ruth was born in Chemainus, BC and was pre-deceased by her husband Peter Edward and brothers John and Edward (Ted) and her sister Katherine.
She is survived by her four children, Raymond (Ann), Steve (Yang Liu), John, Karen Simmerling (Harald) and five Grand Children and two Great Grand Children.
Ruth grew up in Victoria graduating from Victoria College (in Craigdarroch Castle) and worked as a Lab Technician at Royal Jubilee Hospital. She first met Peter when her younger brother John’s motorcycle riding buddy visited. They courted, fell in love and were married on 14 June 1952. Ruth and Peter soon started their company P.E. Laming Co. making lamp shades (they often referred to it as *A Shady Business*) in 1955. Ruth and Peter lived and worked together for nearly 63 years and travelled extensively in their sailboat, small airplane and a motor home. Ruth had an eye for photography and was always taking amazing pictures of native wild flowers for all us to enjoy. She was a member of a writers group in Mill Bay and enjoyed writing short stories and poetry. Ruth had an infectious laugh and always a smiling happy face. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
