Ruth Loretto Commerford (nee Landers), age 92, of Stratford passed away peacefully at Sakura House Residential Hospice in Woodstock on May 22, 2018. Loving mother to Jim Commerford and Deb (Brian) Helmuth. She is now resting in peace with her husband James Commerford, and children Barb Cowan-Sharpe, Larry Commerford and Donnie Commerford.
Ruth was adored and will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Marni (Anton) Reijmers, Jeff (Leigh-Ann) Cowan, Kristy (Tyler) Tennant, Carly & Jamie Commerford, Jeremy Helmuth, Lucas & Bridget Commerford. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren Jackson, Colby, Wesley, Matthew, Madi, Blake and Levi.
Ruth was born on September 6, 1925 and was the oldest of 9 children. She is survived by two sisters, Marjie & Pat and two brothers, Billy and Donny.
Ruth had the ability to light up any room she was in with her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. She was “The Rock” of the Commerford family and leaves her loved ones feeling humbled by her unbelievable strength and positivity. For the last 15 years, Ruth lived life to the absolute fullest and enjoyed the company and many adventures she had with “The Girls” in the Red Hat Society.
The Commerford Family would like to say a special thank you to the personal support workers at One Care who have assisted her many years. In addition, we are very thankful for the all of the recent care she received from nurses, doctors, personal support workers and volunteers through VON, Bayshore, E-Shift and Sakura House.
She is very loved and will be dearly missed by all of her friends and family.
Visitation at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, May 25, from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow.
