Jennings, Russell Raymond, 80, Crowes Mills. The family of Russell Jennings are saddened to announce his peaceful passing at home with loved ones by his side on Friday, November 30, 2018. He was born in Masstown, N.S. to the late Raymond and Josephine (Perrott) Jennings. He is survived by his loving wife, Sally (Weatherby)(Spencer)(Higgins); Son, Larry (Nancy); daughter Miriam (Gilbert) Gill; stepdaughters, Margo Rogers (Craig Beaver), Cynthia Spencer-Fagioli (Sterling Mingo) and Terri-Lynn (Troy) McNutt; grandchildren, Jeff and Evan (Haley) Jennings; great grandchild, Paisley Jennings. step grandchildren, Olivia and Ben Rogers, Layla, Daniel and Joseph Fagioli and Mia McNutt. Russell is also survived by his brothers, Vernon and Billy, sister, Mildred Jaegar; Russell will be missed greatly by a special niece, Shelley Hughes. He had many friends and extended family and was loved by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marion (Hughes), and brothers, George and Ralph. Russell began his working career at the White Rose Service Station in Masstown which he eventually took over from his father. He also worked at Eastern Transport, Atmus Equipment retiring from Commercial Safety College to care for his wife, Marion. He was an excellent mechanic with a creative mind and the ability to make the seemingly impossible, possible. He was a founding member of the Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade, and still an honorary member, for over 55 years. Russell was a member of Trinity United Church, a Trustee and also part of the Men’s Club of his church, He was an active member of Hub Campers of over 35 years, appreciated the beautiful camping grounds, the evenings beside the campfire and valued the many friendships made over the years with fellow-campers. He was an active curler, participated in many tournaments, enjoyed bluegrass, country and gospel music, hockey, golf and fishing in Ontario. He also loved to watch his grandsons play hockey. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, N.S. from where a Firefighter Tribute will take place on Tuesday, December 4th at 6 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 5th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Glenn MacLean officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in Russell’s memory may be made to the VON Palliative Care Team, Trinity United Church or charity of choice.
