Obituary Overview
Roxie Annie Pace
Pace, Roxie Annie
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Roxie Annie Pace on September 7, 2018 with family at her side.
Born December 28, 1933 in Cogmagun, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Daisy (Sandford) Stevens.
She grew up in Fairview and graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School. As she was too young to enter nursing, she took a one-year secretarial course at vocational school. She then entered the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing graduating as a RN in 1955.
While in nursing school she met a young medical student, Graham Pace. The couple were married in 1955. When he completed his training, the couple moved to Dartmouth where he started his medical practice in Woodlawn, in their home, where Roxie acted as his receptionist. After three years Graham moved the office out of the house and built the Woodlawn Medical Clinic. Roxie became the mother of four children. As her husband frequently worked, she did much of the child rearing and became a hockey mom, figure skating mom, piano lessons mom etc. As the children grew up in the 1970’s she helped her husband who was very involved in the medical society affairs and Canadian Medical Society.
Roxie was very involved in the Woodlawn United Church and an active member of the United Church Women, Connie Clark unit taking Bible Studies at the church. She attended regular reunions of her 1955 nursing graduating class with lasting friendships enduring through her life.
She had many interests, including quilting, knitting, sewing, baking and gardening. She designed her present home and renovated the family cottage in Glen Margaret, St Margaret’s Bay. She enjoyed her summers at the cottage, as well as travel to St Petersburg, Florida and fall trips to Maine and New Hampshire.
Roxie is survived by her husband, Dr Graham Pace. Her daughter Carol Ann (David) Roberts, Cape Dorset, NU, sons Stephen (Susan), Dartmouth, Kenneth, Dartmouth and Wayne (Brenda), Halifax, eight grandchildren, Katrina (Nathan), Celeste (Paul), Emily, Brittany, Hannah, Julie, Laura, Sophie and two great-grandchildren, Calliope and Madeline. She was predeceased by her parents.
Special thanks to the late Dr Vince Ing who treated her for years for her various medical issues, the staff of Oakwood Manor Nursing Home and the home care workers that cared for her prior to her being admitted to the nursing home.
A funeral service will be held at Woodlawn United Church, Dartmouth on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11:00 followed by reception. Burial at William Black United Church new cemetery, Glen Margaret, Nova Scotia. Visitation to be held at the Woodlawn United Church Monday September 10, 2018 6:00-8:00PM.
Donations can be made to the Woodlawn United Church.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Roxie Annie Pace 2018..
