Rooney Jean Weir
Rooney Jean Weir, age 80 of Winnipeg passed away Wednesday October 10, 2018 at Oakview Place Extendicare nursing home.
She was born to Edward and Dorothy (Mitchell) Johnson on October 14, 1937 in Miniota, Manitoba. Rooney is predeceased by her parents, late husband of 45 years Hugh John (Jack) and daughter Jo-Anne.
Our Mom will be deeply missed by her children, Rhonda (Jan) Simons, Scott (Karen), Diane (Darrell) Reschke, daughter-in- law, Karen Pirnie. Grandchildren Stewart (Carla)Simons, Laura (Josh) Aspenlind, Steven Simons, Corey (Carly) Weir, Jessie (Trevor) Weir and Mitchell Reschke.
Great-Grandchildren, Adelaide and Olivia Simons and Eli and Wesley Aspenlind.
Siblings, Joy (Grant) Standbrook, Tom (Mary) and John (Donna). Her Aunt Cathie McVey and many loving relatives and dear friends.
Our Mom enjoyed spending time with our dad, her kids and grand kids at their cottage in Arnes and later in Lac du Bonnet, travelling with her family and friends, spending winters in Naples with her siblings, race horse and her Icelandic heritage.
A funeral service and reception celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Chapel Lawn 4000 Portage Ave.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba would be appreciated.
