With sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing at home of Ron, our beloved husband, father, grampa, great-grampa, friend and family to many.
Ron served with The Queen’s Own Rifles and PPCLI which took him to several places throughout the world. He was proud to serve his country and was a long-standing member of both The Royal Canadian Legion and The Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Dad was a hard worker and great provider for his family. His children have many memories of his Texaco service stations, growing up on Allenby Street, camping and road trips. Later years took Ron to the Philippines, a place he loved to visit as often as he could.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, constant companion and partner since 1997, Josephine, his daughter Cathy, sons Calvin and Kevin (Berni), granddaughter Tracy (Sanford), great-grandsons Kasai (aka Tiger Tom), Gabriel (Rosy), Finn (The Baby), Ethel, Ronnie, Gayle, Leanne and families will miss Ron as well. Heartfelt thanks for your love and support. Also mourning his passing is his Philippine family, Father-in-law Juanito Gregorio, sisters and brothers-in-law Jonalyn (Rex), Judy, Joenary, Geralyn (Borge), Jenevy, niece Lorna and nephew Karl.
Ron is predeceased by his first wife, Doris, son Kenny and daughters Sue and Wendy.
Many thanks to Dr. Stuart Marshall and staff, the Palliative Home Care team and the numerous health care providers for the excellent and compassionate care given.
At Ron’s request, there will be no service.
“Much love to you my dear Ron, our Dad, grampa and brumpa. We miss you.”

I am saddened to hear of Grampas passing, introduced to me as “Grampa” and will always be remembered as such. He was always so kind towards me and greeted me with smiles and jokes. Hahahah the time my friend “C” stopped by when Tracy and I were having a garage sale. she was going out and had these new “butt implant” undies on. I noticed her butt seemed fuller so I commented….she pulled down her pants to show us and Grampa started to laugh. Not in a childish gitty way, but in a gangster ” this world is effed” kinda way. It was his reaction that made me laugh until tears. All my love to you up in heaven Grampa. My sincere condolences to Tracy, the boys and the rest of the Chowen family. Gone but will never, could never be forgotten. Until we meet again Gramps! 🙂 xoxo
