Roméo Blanchard
1947-2018
POINTE-SAPIN, NB – Romeo Blanchard 71, of
Pointe-Sapin passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the
Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, Moncton.
Born in Fontaine, he was the son of the late Nazaire Blanchard and
Domine (Doucet) Blanchard of Saint-Louis. Before retiring,
Romeo was a fisherman. He loved fishing, hunting, playing
cards, bowling, darts and music.
Romeo will be sadly missed
by his wife Baselice (Landry) Blanchard of Pointe-Sapin; one daughter,
Eva Richard (Gaetan) of Dieppe; two sons, Elmo Blanchard (Nancy) of
St. Charles and Bernard Blanchard (Rachel) of Pointe-Sapin; his
mother, Domine Blanchard of St. Louis; as well as by his seven
grandchildren, Jonathan, Denis, Julie, Mario, Sébastien,
Alysha and Yanik.
He is also survived by
seven sisters, Edmée Belliveau (Yvon) of Dieppe, Corinne
Pellerin (Donald) of Bathurst, Dora Blanchard of St. Louis, Marie
Blanchard (Allison) of St. Louis, Pauline Boucher (Noé) of
Ste. Anne de Kent, Alphonsine Blanchard of Moncton and Stella Proulx
(Stéphane) of Oromocto; eight brothers, Antoine (Aline) of
Aldouane, Henri (Aline) of Ottawa, ON, Benoit of St. Louis, Norbert
(Jeannine) of Dieppe, Clarence (Berthe) of Kouchibouguac, Joseph
(Odette) of Kouchibouguac, Eric (Brian) of St. Ignace, Robert
(Martine) of Aldouane; and many nieces and
nephews.
Besides his father, he was
predeceased by two infant sisters, Eva and
Eva.
The family would like to express their sincere
gratitude to Romeo’s brother Norbert who graciously donated
a kidney to Romeo, extending his life by 32 years. The family would
also like to thank the staff of the 4C and 4F floors at the
Dr.-Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre for the excellent
care provided to Romeo.
Visitation will be held at
Thompson Memorial Home, Saint-Louis-de-Kent on Sunday from 2-4
& 7-9 pm and Monday from 2:00 pm until departure for the
funeral. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April
30, 2018 at 4:00 pm, St. Louis des Français Roman Catholic
Church, Saint-Louis-de-Kent. Donations in Romeo’s
memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Canadian Cancer
Society.
