In honour of Bob Gray who died at home May 24, 2018
The pain of losing you is unbearable. A pain so unexpected and great it has shaken me to my core. In spite of the emptiness I feel, I am grateful for so many things:
I’m grateful that your suffering is over and nothing can hurt you anymore. I’m grateful your final wishes were realized and you left with your dignity intact.
I’m grateful for the 24 years we spent together – those years were such a gift. You were my love, spouse, confidant, friend and my strength.
I’m so thankful you chose me, to love me and to bring me into your family. You shared your life, and those you loved with me – “the kids”, Heather and Rob who are your pride and joy and who mean the most to you. And now ‘the kids’ have loved ones of their own – Stefan, Maggie, Callum and Cassie – and they, through you, are part of my life and will be for the rest of my time.
I admire the full life you lived, travelling and working throughout the Province and I marvel at the people you’ve met and the admiration they still hold for you. You were special to so many within the Forest Service family, the helicopter community and in other walks of life.
I’m thankful that you had no regrets in the end. You lived life on your terms and didn’t hold back in pursuit of the activities you loved.
There’s no words to express how much I miss you but I know that you’re at peace. No one deserves that more than you. I love you Bob.
Mary Ann
