Obituary Overview
Robert Allen
Allen, Robert Norman
August 19, 1960- August 16, 2018
With great sadness the family of Rob announces his sudden passing on August 16 at the age of 57. He leaves behind to celebrate his life, his wife of 34 years, Debbie; and his two daughters, Stacey (Daniel) Katzman and Kelsey (Chris) Bateman. He also leaves behind his three brothers, Gary, Gordie and Darrel Allen; sister and brother in laws; Diane (Carl) Glemser, Daryl Hyland and Donna Hyland; along with numerous members of his extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Jean and Jim Allen; mother and father in law, Alice and Morley Hyland; brother in law, Bev Popoff; and his grandson, Owen Bateman.
Rob was born and raised in Saskatoon where he attended high school at Bedford Road Collegiate. After finishing high school Rob began working at Intercontinental Packers where he met his best friend, who would later become his wife. In 1980, Rob switched careers to the Canadian National Railway. He started with the company as a conductor and in 1989 he began training as an Engineer where he continued to work up until his passing.
Rob loved the outdoors, he had a passion for fishing, golfing, and skiing. He loved sharing these passions with his family. He was never one to sit still, and he was often found tinkering about the yard. If you knew Rob, you would know these two things are true, his love for his family was undeniable and that he had a sense of humour to brighten anyone’s day. We will miss him like crazy.
Love you forever, as long as we are living, our papa bear you’ll be.
A celebration of Rob’s life will take place Thursday, August, 23 at 14 o’clock (2pm) at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St; first right past Briargate Rd). In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Empty Arms Perinatal Loss Support Services in honour of his grandson, Owen Bateman. (611 3rd Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2J8).
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Robert Allen 2018..
