It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Rita Kennedy on Saturday, December 15, 2018 after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 16, 1957, Rita was predeceased by her father Andrew Richards, mother Margaret (nee Hogan) of St. John’s NL and sister Deborah Spenik of St. Petersburg, Florida. Rita will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 35 years, Bill, son Stephen (Melissa), Lisa (Alain) and her siblings Edward (Ann), Robert (Elizabeth), John (Heather), Brian (Sue), Donald (Tracy), David (Lisa) and brothers and sisters-in-law Jennifer Scott (John), Sue Stapleton (Paul), Judy Grant (Bruce), Tom Kennedy and Andrew Spenik along with many nieces , nephews and extended family and friends. Rita will also be well remembered by many coworkers, having been employed by the City of St. John’s for 38 years. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road on Tuesday, December 18th from 2:00 p.m. – 4 :00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, December 19th at St. Teresa’s Church, Mundy Pond at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre or to www.gofundme.com/ritasbench.
