In Loving Memory
Richard Everett Allison King of Didsbury, beloved husband of the late Gloria King, passed away at Didsbury Regional Hospital on September 26, 2018 at the age of 92 years.
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his children: Mansley (Janice) King of Brittania NL, Inez (Scott) Stewart of Didsbury AB, Orville (Janice) King of St. Thomas ON, Zena (Brad) Boutilier of Calgary AB, and Vanda Leyenaar of Didsbury AB; his 12 grandchildren; and his 13 great grandchildren; along with a large circle of extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Liza Stacey and Jerimiah King and his sisters Sally Rysen and Stella King.
Richard was born on March 23, 1926 in Clarenville NL. He was a proud father to his family of five children and was married to his wife Gloria for 68 years. Richard had a full life with careers as a lumberjack, WWII veteran (Newfoundland Regiment and RCHA), a mariner, short-order cook, truck driver, business owner, college educator emeritus and active member in The Salvation Army. He had long-standing memberships in the Korean Veterans Association, Canadian Legion and the Heritage Unit.
For those wishing to pay their respects, visitation will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home (1605 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Arbor Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made in Richard’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #200, 119 – 14 Street NW, Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 (www.heartandstroke.ab.ca) or to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, #710, 10123 – 99 Street, Edmonton, AB T5J 3H1 (www.albertacancer.ca).
