At Leson's Funeral Home, our mission is to provide the highest quality funeral service in accordance with the wishes of those we serve, and to do so in an atmosphere of dignity and respect, in support of professional standards.

Our funeral home was established in 1963 and has been expanded to over 10,000 square feet. It is wheelchair accessible. Our chapel will accommodate up to 300 people with modern video projection and audio systems. Our 'Family Centre' or main floor reception area will seat 150 people with an overflow lower level luncheon room seating 80 people. Lunches and dinners are all prepared and served by our courteous staff.

Shannon Paul Micheal Leson was born and raised in Canora. He is a fully licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer and Salesperson, since 1993 graduating from the Saskatchewan Funeral Service Association. Shannon has been actively involved in the funeral service industry for over 28 years. His career began in 1990 in Canora with Leson's Funeral Home. He then worked in Saskatoon at the Acadia Drive Funeral Chapel where he completed his studies. He relocated to Calgary, AB where he was employed at McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, the largest independent funeral home operation in western Canada. He returned home to Canora with the intentions of eventually taking over the family business at Leson's Funeral Home. He, along with his wife Shawna, took over the operations of Leson's Funeral Home in August of 2010. He served on the Canora Volunteer Fire Department in all capacities from secretary/treasurer, Public Education Officer, Captain, Vice Chief, Deputy Chief and Fire Chief for 15 years. Shannon received the distinguished honour of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his dedicated service to his peers, community and to Canada, he currently serves as a board member trustee for the Good Spirit School Division, as well as a member of the Canora Golf and Country Club and the Canora Trakkers Snowmobile Club. Shannon has also served on the Funeral & Cremation Services Council of Saskatchewan in Regina as an elected board member and as acting chairman of FCSCS, as well as a Mentor for students currently enrolled in the funeral service program. He is very involved in the community and professional industry. Shannon's passion is spending time with his wife Shawna and his children: Skylar, Saryn, Shayna and Shiloh. He also enjoys participating in the many local and area activities. Shannon's commitment to the families he serves is to do so in a compassionate, respectful and dignified manner.

Shawna (Nordin) Leson was born in Canora, SK, and grew up in the Buchanan District. She attended university in Manitoba, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Education. She returned to Saskatchewan and worked within Good Spirit School Division, first as an EA and then as a Teacher at the Canora Composite School. Early in her career, Shawna accepted a term position as co-chair of the Good Spirit Teacher’s Association and also was selected to be a participant in an ELA curriculum project with the Ministry of Education. With a passion for making a difference in student’s lives, Shawna took on various additional roles as a volleyball coach, drama director, cheerleading team mentor and SADD advisor as well as volunteered to run the school canteen program.
With the encouragement of the late Stella Leson, Shawna became licensed as a funeral director in 2002 and assisted at Leson’s, while still working as a teacher in the community. In August 2010, Shannon and Shawna took over operations of Leson’s Funeral Home. Shawna resigned from teaching and embarked on the very different, but life changing career as a Funeral Director, Certified Funeral Celebrant and Bereavement Support Therapist. As Shawna continues to work full time at Leson’s Funeral Home, she also works as an online educator and distance learning teacher with FlexEd and a substitute teacher with GSSD and Parkland College. Shawna is also working towards a master’s degree in Grief Counselling. A busy, involved mother of four children, Shawna volunteers wherever she can within her children’s activities and was an active member with the Canora Wheatland Lioness. In 2019, she was selected as a core rider with Prairie Women on Snowmobiles, raising awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Research. Currently, Shawna continues to be the SADD advisor at Canora Composite School and focuses on bringing speakers and presentations in for students. She has also presented as a keynote speaker on the topic of grief and the grieving process to bereavement groups and psychology classes as well as to the Retired Teacher’s Association.
Outside the professional role, Shawna enjoys spending time with Shannon and their children, Skylar, Saryn, Shayna, and Shiloh.
