Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory of Peter Kreklewich
Passed away in his 92nd year at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre in Toronto on December 20, 2017 from complications caused by Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in the summer of 1925 to George and Martha Kreklewich, Peter grew up on the family farm in Melville, Saskatchewan as one of seven children. Touched by a bit of wanderlust, while in his teens, he set out on his own and moved to Toronto, Ontario where he eventually met and married Olga Stefaniw. Olga and Peter shared 38 years and 6 children together.
Peter was a kind and honorable man whose interests included playing cards, golf and curling. He joined the Ontario Provincial Police in 1950 and was a dedicated officer until his retirement 33 years later in 1983.
He is survived by his sisters Ann (Novakowski), Rose (Walchuk), his brother Joe, and his children Marlene (Page), Wayne, Pat (Ashforth), George, Karen (Heard) and Kimberli (Hodges), 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers Phil and Andrew, his sister Mary (Osicki), his wife Olga and special friend Jean Seidlik.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at UCCC for the wonderful care their father received over the past 3.5 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 between 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home, 524 Davis Drive Newmarket, ON.
lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peter’s memory to the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
