Born January 22, 1928 in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan
Went to be with his Savior June 22, 2018, at the age of 90 in Vernon, B.C.
Paul grew up in Calgary, Alberta, the youngest of 5 children (1 older brother and 3 older sisters) all of whom have predeceased him. He attended Prairie Bible Institute for 3½ years. After meeting and marrying his first wife, Doreen Hollingshead, they travelled to Panama with New Tribes Missions. While in Panama, their 3 children, Carol, Russell and John were born. Russell predeceased Paul last year.
After their term in Panama, Paul and Doreen returned to Calgary and the Edmonton where they began their successful vacuum sales and repair business. Upon retirement they moved to Cochrane, Alberta to be near some of their grandchildren. In 2003 Doreen passed away and Paul became involved in the Baptist Mission Society of Latin America and travelled to San Carlos, Mexico where he met Martha (Dinwoodie) and they were married in December of 2003.
For five years they worked in the mission at San Carlos until Paul’s health made it necessary to return to their home in Armstrong, B.C. For the last 4 years Canterbury Court has been their home, where Paul worked on repairing vacuum cleaners for the housekeeping staff and enjoyed socializing with the other residents, particularly those with scooters! Paul loved anything on wheels and browsed car lots continually. He was known for his puns, jokes and mischievous smile, and he loved to talk about what the Lord had done for him.
He leaves to miss him his son John and family, his daughter Carol and family, his daughter-in-law Karen and family and Martha’s family.
Special thanks to Dr. Murphy, the caring staff at Canterbury Court and Vernon Hospice.
Paul’s favourite scripture was: “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Phil. 1:21
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on July 3, 2018 at the Armstrong First Baptist Church.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Paul Emerson Cook June 22nd 2018.source
