Obituary for
Patricia Jeanette Chwyl (Bilecki)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Patricia Chwyl of Edmonton at the age of 75 with her loving family by her side. Pat’s courage and strength was never more obvious than in her brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mourning her loss is her loving husband and soulmate of 53 years, Steven; daughters, Lisa (David) Bergt, Heidi (Terry) Paranych, and Shelley (Jan) Kofluk. She will be dearly missed by the pride and joy of her life, grandchildren; Cameron, Rebecca, Matt, Abby, Sawyer and Kennedy. Pat is survived by sister, Doreen (Victor) Buga; brother, Peter (Ollie) Bilecki; brothers-in-law, Donald (Louise) Chwyl , Mike (Louise) Tkachyk; sister-in-law, Sandra Lafleche; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Predeceased by parents, Julian and Annie Bilecki and mother-in-law, Katherine Chwyl.
Growing up on a farm near Bon Accord, Pat never lost her love of gardening and country life. After moving to Edmonton and graduating from business college, she was employed in various administrative roles during her working career. Pat’s most satisfying and important role was raising and nurturing her 3 daughters as a stay at home mom. She had a real zest for adventure and life experiences and loved curling, golfing, skiing, camping, going to dances and live theatre performances. She was passionate about travel, which led her and Steve to numerous destinations around the world, most recently a month-long tour of Australia and New Zealand for her 75th Birthday. She rarely missed watching her children and grandchildren participate in sport, musical and Ukrainian cultural activities.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Scarfe of the Cross Cancer Institute and the AHS Palliative and Home Care Teams for their compassionate care.
Family and friends may pay their respects Wednesday, November 21, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Funeral Home, 9709 – 111 Avenue.
