Norma Smith
Smith, Norma, age 75, of Dartmouth, peacefully passed away with her family at her side, on November 2, 2018 in the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in North Preston, she was a daughter of the late Isabelle (Grant) and Frank Smith.
Norma lived in Toronto for over 30 years, returning to Nova Scotia just a year ago. She worked as a homecare worker in Ontario until retiring 5 years ago. She took great pride in her work. She was formerly a member of United Pentecostal Church, Toronto and a current member of Revival Tabernacle Church in Halifax. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed her visits home to see her family and friends in Nova Scotia. She loved to cook and was famous for her oxtails and goulash. She had a quiet way about her with a surprising sense of humour.
Norma is survived by her sons, Lionel (Tina), Jerome (Christine), Tyrone (Valerie); grandchildren, Tia, Justin, Trevor, Jada, Shyquida, Lynell, Diquan, Asia, Cherelle, Sierra, Marais, Melissa and Colin; and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Greta, Aleda, Rev. Elson Smith, Lynda, all of North Preston, Patricia, Randy, Elroy, Feenie, of Ontario, Pastor Terry Smith, Rev. Linda Smith, Alfreda (Owen) Anderson and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings Horace, Wilfred, Louis, Alfreda, Rev. Marie Downey, Theresa, Creighton, Lyndon, Lloyd, Mary.
Public visitation will be held at 10am on Saturday November 10th in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place at 11am immediately following visitation in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Linda Smith officiating. Burial in St. Thomas Baptist Church Cemetery, North Preston.
