Michel Gagnon
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michel Gagnon on August 14th, 2018, in Sturgeon-Falls, Ontario. He died peacefully, at home, surrounded by his close family and friends. Michel was born in Lamorandière, Abitibi, Quebec in 1940. He is predeceased by his wife Claire (St George) Gagnon, his parents, Edna (Guay) and François Gagnon, his brothers Oscar, Robert, Lionel, François and Florian, his sisters Claire and Lucette (Létourneau) and France (McIntosh). He is survived by his daughters Julie, Johanne and Claude, his grandchildren Michel and Zakari Crossgrove, Don and Claire Augustine, Émilie and Mijanou Gravelle , his sister Evelyn and his brother Ray, as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. Michel was the proud founder and owner of Michel Gagnon Windows. He was an outstanding carpenter and tradesman. He was a proud member of the RCAF for a few years, where he obtained his electronic technician papers, participated in their precision drill team, and served as a personal bodyguard for Princess Margaret when she visited in Vancouver in 1958. He also worked for Inco as an industrial artist, and as an electrician for the Abitibi mill. He was a very good artist and sculptor. Michel was a member of the Town Council, the Knights of Columbus, the Legion and the Club Richelieu for many years. The family would like to thank all of the outstanding health professionals who helped out so compassionately, namely the nurse practicioners Gisèle McMurray and Lynn Lawson, all of the VON nurses, Dr. Susini and staff, Dr. Desjardins and Dr. Ewing-Bui. There will be no funeral service, as per his wishes. The West Nipissing General Hospital Foundation is his preference for donations (cheques preferable please for processing purposes).
