Melba June Porlier 2018

OBITUARY
Melba June Porlier
June 7, 1926 – October 20, 2018
June passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the age of 92 years.
Born to Beryl and George Meldrum in Bristol County Quebec, June headed west to Alberta as a young woman. She spent many years in the food industry, working as both a waitress and cook in the oilfield camps, Banff and at a variety of places in Calgary. Once her grandchildren were born, she spent much of her time helping look after them. As she got older, her adventurous spirit led her to travel the world, independently and with friends. She had a love of all things crafty, an interest she shared with her daughter and granddaughter, and loved to roam thrift shops in search of a great bargain.
June is lovingly remembered by her daughter Ellen (Bob) Smeltzer; grandchildren Allison (Vik) Ghosh and James Smeltzer; as well as her extended Meldrum and Cooper families. She was predeceased by two loving husbands, Joe Porlier and Al Cooper; as well as her three siblings, Gordon, Don and Ruth.
Special thanks to the staff at Brentwood Care Centre, for making June’s final months as comfortable as possible.
A Celebration of June’s Life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Monday, October 29, 2018 7:00 p.m.
