After a valiant battle with a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family, Melanie peacefully left her earthly home in the early hours of June 14, 2018 at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg.
Born July 1, 1932 in Mierzno, Poland, Melanie immigrated to Canada in June 1957, residing in Winnipeg. On October 5, 1957 she married Ernst Bauer and they were blessed with 3 daughters.
She worked as a seamstress in a sewing factory before becoming a full time homemaker and mother.
Spending time with family, music, gardening, yoga, shopping and holidays to tropical destinations were some of the things she enjoyed most. She had a great love for all animals, especially cats and dogs, and enjoyed special times with many pets throughout the years.
Melanie’s faith was extremely important to her and she spent countless hours involved in the church community at Grace Lutheran Church.
She was predeceased by her husband Ernst (1996), father Adolf, mother Emma and brother Bruno.
She is survived by her daughters Karin (Brian), Evelyn (Rob), Doreen (Frank), grandchildren Alyssa (Alex), Kelsey (Devon), Kelly (Evan), James, Stefanie, Michael (Kiana), great grandchildren Xander and Kaden.
A celebration of Melanie’s life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church 211 Kimberly Ave. at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 20th. A private family interment will take place at Glen Eden Cemetery.
