Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Peters (nee Prokopski) on December 19, 2018 at St Michael’s Hospital at the age of 89.
Mary was the loving wife of the late John Peters until his passing in 198. Mary then found her dear companion Rue Rodreguis, whom she made 30 years of beautiful memories with. As devoted mother, Mary raised 3 children: Mary-Anne, Joseph and John (Vanessa). Family was everything to Mary. She adored her grandchildren Rachel, David, Mandy, Darryl, Cedar, Lauren and Marcus, her great grand children Sarah, Jennifer (Jon), Breanne, Gabrielle, Malice and Mellasynt and her great-great grand daughter, Katherine. A selfless woman, Mary could be found donating her time at local hospitals, sewing, knitting, cooking up a storm of perogies, cabbage rolls and lasagna or just curling up with her best furry friend, Rusty. Mary was commonly referred to as the neighborhood “mom” as she would always care for the kids around her as she was fond of being surrounded by people, she loved them and will forever remain in the thoughts and hearts of her many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. The youngest of 7 children and the last surviving child, Mary has now been reunited with her brothers and sisters; Frank(Maria), William (Teenie), Jimmy (Marie), Florence, Elsie (Alex) and Joseph (Barbara) who have predeceased her.
Our family would like to personally thank everyone at St. Michael’s Hospital, Palliative care unit for the tender care provided to Mary and her family.
Family and friends will be received at Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst Street, on Friday December 21, 2018 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral Services will be the following day on Saturday December 22, 2018 at 11am in the funeral home Chapel with interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
