In loving memory of Martin Lane.
Martin is survived by his ever loving wife Joy and sons Stephen and Ken. Martin was born in a small town in England named Billericay Es in 1944.
Martin worked hard and loved his time on his father’s farm in Devon, England where he developed a passion for farm life and nature. His concern for all living things turned into something that defined him.
As a young boy he was lucky enough to travel to Canada on a Cunard Lines ship with his parents to Ontario. He was filled with stories of adventure and the spirit of Canadian pioneers. This planted the seed of a life in Canada and in 1980 the family was moved to Vermilion Alberta to begin new adventures and opportunities together.
Martin found work immediately as is his nature. His hard work and positive outgoing nature lead to the start of a business known as “Lane’s Stationary”. During this time the family enjoyed life in the prairies, made great friends and created some wonderful memories for all.
Downsizing the house to Parksville turned out to be a blessing in so many ways. Martin and Joy made so many wonderful new friends. St Anne’s Church was another discovery that Martin fell in love with along with his walks in the forest and appreciation of this precious corner of the world.
The new home in Parksville became a passion and landscaping and improvements followed with great energy and passion to constantly improve the surroundings.
Martin will always be remembered for his love of nature, energy, people and sharing his home baked bread.
A service in celebration of Martin’s life will be held at St. Anne’s Log Church, 407 Wembley Rd, Parksville on Thursday May 17th at 2.30 pm, followed by a committal in the churchyard, and a reception in the hall”
