Marjorie White (Fowler) MacCausland
1917-2018
Marjorie White (Fowler) MacCausland, of Fredericton, NB,
passed away peacefully in her sleep at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital
in the morning of February 16, 2018, at the age of 100. She was born
on Brunswick Street in Fredericton on May 10, 1917, the eldest child
of the late James M. and Nellie May Fowler.
Predeceased by her parents; her siblings, James G. Fowler and
Frances E. Fowler; and by her husband, Donald I.
MacCausland.
Survived by her only child, her beloved daughter, Debra
(Debbie) and son-in-law, Peter Allik-Petersenn of Kamloops, BC; two
nieces, Donna Taylor (Tom) of Katy, Texas and Jane Boucher (Ronald) of
Bathurst, NB; two nephews, Keith MacCausland (Lorraine) of
Fredericton, NB and Steve MacCausland (Georgina); two grandnieces,
Erinn de Barroso (Javier) of Revere, Mass. and Nancy Steffens (John)
of Morinville, AB; two grandnephews, Jim Taylor (Crystal) of Plano,
Texas and Bill Taylor of Katy, Texas; and one cousin Diane Porter of
High River, AB.
Marge lived almost her entire life in Fredericton, within the
radius of a few short block, except for several months in rural
Saskatchewan as a toddler, and one year in Savannah, GA as a young
child. Her early childhood was spent on a farm in Stanley (Cardigan),
NB, which was reflective of her roots as a descendant of the first
Welsh settlers in New Brunswick.
Until her marriage in 1950, Marge worked at
Beardsley’s Jewellery Store in downtown Fredericton. She
“retired” to marry and raise her daughter. Apart from being
a traditional housewife, Marge was a caregiver all her life,
especially in her late years to her mother and sister, who made their
home with her and Don. After his death in 2002, she continued to live
alone in the family home, according to her wishes, fiercely
independent until the end.
The family gratefully acknowledges and thanks the staff and
caregivers, past and present, of Senior Watch Inc. and Kindred Home
Care, who aided and allowed Mom to remain in her cherished home. A
special thanks to her devoted friend and caregiver Judy Jones and her
family, without whom she could not have coped, and who was holding her
hand at the end.
The family also gives thanks for Mom’s loyal,
loving and devoted friends and neighbours, who contributed so much to
her quality of life these past years. Jill Dunderdale, Ken Amos, Ruth
Holmes, Ivan Chase, Dick Russell, Kathleen Snow of Christ Church
Cathedral, Mae Green, Cam Brown, Gerry Clarke (Jennifer) and many
others. Your devotion can never be repaid.
Rest in peace Mom, you deserve it. We love
you.
Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be annonce
at a later date in the Gleaner and on our website.
