Marjorie Fitzsimmons
1918-2018
Marjorie Irene Fitzsimmons. The death of Marjorie, formerly
from New Glasgow, occurred peacefully at Ivey’s Terrace, Trenton with
her family by her side on Sunday March 18th, 2018. Born on Nov. 11th,
1918, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She
will be dearly missed by her daughter, Pat Hughes, and her children,
Laurie, Susan, Glenn, Shelley, Sheila and Stacey; her son Leonard, and
his daughter Patti; her son, James and his children, Debbie and Jamie;
many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces and
nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard; her
son, Leigh; her sisters, Reta, Florence and Jean; her son-in-law,
Laurie Hughes, and great grandchildren Brittany and Mitchell. Marjorie
was a well-known, popular waitress working at Chow’s and the Heather
Hotel over the years. She was admired for her poise, beauty and
independence by all who knew her. The family would like to
thank the staff of Glenn Haven Manor and Ivey’s Terrace for their
exceptional care of Marjorie over the past few
years. Arrangements have been entrusted to R.H. Porter
Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by
request. There will be a public graveside service at 11 am Thursday in
Lourdes Cemetery with a reception to follow in Sister Catherine Steele
Center, all are welcome to attend. Donations in her memory
may be made to a charity of choice.
