MARIE Jessie LAMBERT
August 21, 1928 – October 28, 2018
Lambert, Marie Jessie
Born August 21, 1928 in Stellarton, Nova Scotia to the late Frank and Ellen (Nellie Lonergan) Lambert. Passed away at the age of 90 in Melville Lodge where she resided since 2010.
Marie is survived by her sister Anne Marie (Maureen) of Montreal and her niece Mary (Peter) Trinkler, Barrie, Ontario, also by cousins Maureen (Scott) Williams, Antigonish, Bernadette Romanousky and family, River John, Patricia O’Neil, Fran (Steve Baldner) and their families; cousins Martha and Cathy, New York, sister-in-law Norma and family. Marie was predeceased by her brothers Tom and Steven (Liz).
As a young woman, Marie entered the Sisters of Charity of Halifax and was known as Sister Anne Bernadette. As a religious her early years were spent teaching, sharing her joy of music with her students. In her middle years, she became a registered nurse and took great joy in giving comfort to her patients.
Marie was a very peace-filled person and in spite of the diminishment brought on by Alzheimer’s, she never lost her ability to smile, her enjoyment of music and giving comfort to others.
Marie will be greatly missed by her niece Mary Trinkler and her good friend Solange Dube who at Marie’s request assumed responsibility for Marie’s care and well-being in her later years.
Special thanks to the staff at Melville Lodge for the care and comfort Marie received and especially the Recreation Department where Marie enjoyed many hours of musical entertainment.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11am on Tuesday, November 6 at Saint Mother Teresa of Kolkata, Normandy Drive, Halifax with burial in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery Family Plot, Stellarton, Nova Scotia.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, Melville Lodge Recreation Department or a charity of choice.
