Margaret Elsie (Casey) MacIntosh – Age 93 of Oxford. Margaret was called by her Heavenly Father and passed away peacefully on December 29, 2017, at All Saints Springhill Hospital with family by her side. She lived a life full of much love, family, prayer and service to God and others. Born in Carrington, NS, she was one of fifteen children and daughter of the late Laurie and Maude (nee Killawee) Casey. Marg attended Carrington School and upon completion, went on to study Business at the Amherst Commercial School. As a young woman, Marg cooked at mill camps and subsequently enjoyed working at Eaton’s in Oxford for many years. She married the love of her life, the late Douglas “Bud” MacIntosh and raised her three children on the family farm in Little River. It was here that Marg spent many wonderful years as an accomplished homemaker, seamstress, quilter, and of course, cook. Time spent at family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were most precious to her. While living a life of service, Marg was a dedicated and faithful member of the Little River Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School for many years, and was also a founding member of the Baptist Women’s Circle. Her unwavering faith was a testament to God’s power and a source of great inspiration, especially to her family. She thoroughly enjoyed her years of volunteering at the Oxford Exhibition and social times with the ladies of Just Friends in Collingwood. Marg will be sadly missed, yet warmly remembered by her family: sons, Roddie (Diane); Danny (Betty Jean); 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Claude, Donald (Betty); sisters, Marie, Jean, Sheila (Darrell); sister-in-law, Eleanor. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Douglas “Bud”; daughter, Marilyn; brothers, Elwyn (Alice), Carl (Dorie), Earle (Freda), Arthur (Margaret), Jack; sisters, Dorothy (Ira), Mildred (Hartley), Grace (Carmen), Marilyn (in infancy); brothers-in-law, Don, Vern; sister-in-law, Orpha; great-grandson, Gideon (at birth). The family would like to thank the following: VON, Palliative Care at the All Saints Springhill Hospital, Dr. Peter Blaikie, and Dr. Joshy Karivelil. Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home, 5075 Main St, Oxford (902-447-2930) from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Oxford Baptist Church, 89 Jackson St., at 3:00 p.m., directly following the visitation. Family flowers only. Donations in Marg’s memory are deeply appreciated and can be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), Pine Grove Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
