Lois Mary Brown Biddiscombe 19292018

Lois Mary Brown (Biddiscombe)
1929-2018
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lois Mary Brown,
wife of the late John “Jack” Francis Brown, announce
her passing, which occurred peacefully on Tuesday, May
22nd, 2018, at her residence at the Church of
St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born August
28th, 1929 in Saint John, she was a daughter of
the late James Edward and Elsie Marie (Melanson)
Biddiscombe.
Lois grew up in the North End of Saint John, graduating from
Saint John Vocational High School. She worked as a secretary at
McAvity’s, on Rothesay Avenue. Many years later, she worked
at Moe’s Fruit Market along with her brother James
(Birdie).
Lois was a devout Catholic, meeting her husband Jack at the
Tuesday evening Novenas’ at Saint Peter’s Church.
They were married in 1953 and spent 61 beautiful years together. Lois
was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister
and friend. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She
was a loving grandmother to Vicky, Grant, Catherine and
Adam.
Lois’ passion was being a stay-at-home mom and
raising her children, which gave her much joy and happiness. She was a
great supporter of her children – cheering on Mike playing baseball;
supporting Paul racing horses; and sharing family recipes and knitting
lessons with Sharon. Lois was a regular member of St.
Peter’s Bowling League and Bridge Club. Lois was quite proud
to share the Winners circle with Paul at Exhibition Park and cheer on
her Saint John Flames, with Jack, as a Season ticket holder. Lois was
an expert knitter, making beautiful cowichan sweaters, angora hats and
mittens for family members. An excellent cook, she hosted many family
gatherings at her home and summer cottage. Lois and Jack were
inseparable and when not spending time with their children and family
could be seen feeding the ducks at Rockwood Park.
Lois is survived by her children: Paul Brown of Saint John,
Sharon Sudsbear (Tom) of Ottawa, ON and Michael Brown (Leah) of Mahone
Bay, NS; grandchildren Victoria “Vicky” Graham
(Ryan) of Edmonton, AB, Grant McNeill of Calgary, AB, Catherine
Sudsbear of Halifax, NS and Adam Klinger of Halifax, NS; great
granddaughters: Marlee Anne Klinger and Nora Charlotte Graham; sister
Carol Lunney (Dan) of Riverview, NB; sisters-in-law: Kay Biddiscombe
and Lois Biddiscombe of Saint John, NB and Margaret McGarrity of
Peterborough, ON; brother-in-law Michael Brown of Saint John, NB;
several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and loving husband,
Lois was predeceased by her brothers Earl and James.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kim
Brown, Lois’ nurse for many years, along with all the staff
at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home who provided
Lois with excellent care.
Lois is resting at Brenan’s Funeral
Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with
visiting on Sunday, May 27th, 2018 from 2 to 4
pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St.
Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street, on Monday, May
28th, 2018 at 11am. Interment will take place
in St. Joseph’s Cemetery with a reception to follow at St.
Peter’s Church Hall. For those who wish, remembrances can be
