Kevin Francis O’Kane
Kevin Francis O’Kane
April 8, 1960 – Nov 13, 2018
Suddenly and peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 13th at the age of 58. Kevin has joined his parents at his new home and is most likely enjoying Mom’s homemade apple pie. He leaves behind his sister Anne; brother Paul (Marjorie Bowman) along with his nephews James, Dan, Declan and his “awesome young niece” Grace. Kevin had so much pride in hearing about of all their successes and loved to needle them as much as he could. He also leaves behind many cousins across Canada as well as in the UK and Ireland along with many friends he considered family.
Born and raised in Montreal, he laid his roots down at St. Malachy’s and Pierrefonds Comprehensive High School. From an early age, he knew that his first love was cars and took work as a mechanic upon graduating high school in 1977. He proudly celebrated 40 years as a mechanic last year. Well versed on all makes and models, Kevin was the “go to” guy in the shop. Outside of work, there was nothing Kevin enjoyed more than being with friends having a beer at Don Cherry’s Kanata or Main Street Pub Stittsville. He loved to laugh, TRY and tell a joke every now and then, and would light up a room with his smile and an occasional hug for a friend. Kevin was loyal to no end and always willing to lend a hand. It was just that simple to him. His friends have truly lost a GOOD MAN.
Join us to celebrate Kevin’s life at Kelly Funeral Home-Kanata Chapel, 580 Eagleson Road,
Kanata K2M 1H4, 613-591-6580, for visitation on Monday November 19, 4pm-6pm and 7pm-9pm. Funeral Mass to take place at Holy Redeemer Parish, 44 Rothesay Drive, Kanata, ON K2L 2X1 on Tuesday November 20th, 2018 at 11 AM, reception to follow.
We encourage anyone attending the visitation or funeral to be as casual as Kevin was and
even wear a hockey jersey as Kevin was a lifelong Habs fan. Later that evening, join us at 6 PM at Don Cherry’s to raise a glass, tell stories and smile at our many memories of Kevin.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Ottawa Rotary Home would be appreciated as this was near
and dear to his heart.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Kevin Francis O’Kane 2018..
