Kenneth Gerald Moore, formerly of Maryfield and late of Moose Jaw, beloved husband of Lori Moore and the late Merle Moore, passed away at WestPark Crossing Retirement Centre, Moose Jaw, on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the age of 92 years.
Funeral service from the Associated Gospel Church, Maryfield, on Saturday, December 15 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Hans Elgby officiating. The interment will take place in the Maryfield Cemetery on Saturday, December 15 at 1:00 p.m. Everyone welcome to attend.
A memorial service will take place at Hildebrand Chapel, Caronport, Saskatchewan on Sunday, December 16 at 1:30 p.m..
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Briercrest Schools, Kenosee Lake Bible Camp, Northern Canada Evangelical Mission or the Associated Gospel Church, Maryfield, in memory of Ken.
Ken went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 30, 2018 at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife Lori (Siemens), brother Vernon (Margaret), children Gayle (Laurie) Robinson, Dawn (Greg) Hockaday, Wendy (Hugues) Kalousek, Randy (Sheri) Moore, son-in-law Brad Dick, and sister-in-law Edith Moore, 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Merle, daughter Melva, grandson Joel, parents John and Janie (Campbell) Moore and siblings Eileen, Edith and Wes Moore and Doris DeGroot.
Ken was born on the farm at Ryerson, SK on Oct 22, 1926, the 5th of 6 children to John and Janie Moore. He attended Plainville School until leaving during the war to help on the family farm. He married Merle Williamson on December 27, 1949. Ken and brother Vernon formed a farming partnership and enjoyed 40 successful years on the farm homesteaded by their parents. In retirement the farm was sold and in 1998 Ken and Merle moved to Maryfield.
As a young man, Ken loved baseball and was a popular pitcher in the area. His community involvement grew as he was called on to emcee concerts and meetings, served on Maryfield School Board and Housing Association, AGC Church Board, Kenosee Lake Bible Camp Board, CSSM Provincial Camp Council, the Briercrest Advisory Council and 29 years on the Board of Directors for Briercrest Schools, Caronport, SK.
Traveling, camping, fishing and woodworking were Ken’s passions in retirement. He was a history buff, especially of the world wars, and never tired of wandering around the battle sites in Northern France. He became a loving caregiver during the last few years of Merle’s life. Ken moved to Caronport in 2007 where he enjoyed horseshoes, bowling and an active seniors’ group. He married Lori Siemens on August 8, 2009. In September 2018 Ken settled into his new home in Moose Jaw at WestPark Crossing Retirement Centre
