OBITUARY
Kenneth Branton
December 1, 1923 – June 27, 2018
Passed away at the Devon General Hospital, June 27, 2018, in the presence of immediate family members. Born December 1, 1923, he was the son of Leonard and Ethel Branton of Sunnybrook, Alberta.
He was a veteran of WWII and the last surviving member from his family of nine children. He was predeceased by daughter Corinne (Clifford) Kelsey, granddaughter Sarah Branton, and survived by son Ted (Jean) Branton of Calgary, Alberta, daughter Terry (Rick) Andrews of Gibsons, B.C. and son Larry (Donna) Branton of Thorsby, Alberta, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Ken grew up on the family farm and came of age during the Great Depression. At the tender age of 19 he joined the Seaforth Highlanders, trained in England & North Africa, and then fought in Italy. He returned to Canada where he farmed near Thorsby until his 92nd year. Operating his farm machinery, keeping his yard and garden looking neat and tidy, and spending time with his family gave Ken great joy. He was loved and respected by many in the community and will be truly missed.
At his request, there will not be a public funeral. A private gathering will occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Legion Thorsby branch.
