It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Judith Myrtle Mabey-Parsley on Tuesday March 6th 2018, loving wife of Gordon (Gord) James Parsley (deceased). Born 1948 in Fredericton NB, she was the daughter of late Wilbur and Barbara Mabey. Judy will be greatly missed by children David (Michelle) Gallant of Rothesay and Cindy Gallant of AB; grandchildren Mishelle Gallant, Nathan and Cassandra Chiasson and great grandson Theodore (Teddy); brother Barry Mabey, sister Susan (Dr. Chris) O’Brien and special friends Jack and Linda Reader, Ken and Debbie Ross, Dave and Sheri Wallace, Tracie and Grace Killinger, Trina McPhee, Andrew and Josie McPhee, Faith Cormier and Family.
Judy lead a remarkable life, growing up in Saint John, NB she started life in hospitality as a waitress working in numerous establishments from a diner on waterloo street to ultimately becoming a restaurant manager for Pizza Hut. She also spent time import/export broker, book keeper and accountant. In her spare time besides raising two of her own kids and several step children, she was Mom to allot of the neighborhood children as were most moms of the 60’s 70’s and 80’s. Every child was always welcome for lunch or dinner, a scrapped knee a runny nose. Mom always had a kind word and loving embrace for those in need.
Judy also served her community working and planning our annual Loyalist Day parade for 4 years in a row.
Judy and Gord picked up and migrated west in 1997, settling in Morinville, AB. Gord worked as a truck driver for Schwann’s and the Teamsters and Mom worked retail in the video store, Sears Catalog and a local jewelry store (I’m told her favorite). They both loved the community of Morinville, its heart, spirit and people.
Celebration of life ceremony will be held at Fundy Funeral Home on Saturday March 31, 2018 from 2-4. The family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society www.cancer.ca/en/donate.
