On July 15, 1963, John married Evelyn Ludba in Canora, SK, and they recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. Together, they were blessed with three sons: Jim, Jeff and Cory. He was also known as the “Lawnmower Doctor,” as he loved fixing and tuning mowers and all small engine repair.
John loved music – he especially enjoyed playing guitar and accordion. He was self-taught. In the early years, he played with his family at school socials and various functions. Throughout his years, he entertained his family and grandchildren, as he taught and shared his love of music. After his retirement, John continued to perform, enjoyed playing with his friends, and was also a member of “The Parklanders,” entertaining at various functions and institutions, including hospitals, nursing homes, at senior dances and at community events.
In addition to music, John loved farming and the great outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting and enjoyed making sausage. Many cherished memories were made with friends and co-workers at picnics and company fishing events. Ultimately, spending time with family made John happy, especially playing cards and enjoying music with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and going for coffee with his friends.
John will be remembered for his positive outlook on life and for his love of offering words of wisdom to his children. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
