It is with great sadness that we announce John’s passing on June 29, 2018, at the age of 86. Beloved husband, father and grandad, brother and uncle passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family in Kelowna, BC.
John was born on February 19, 1932, in York, England to Muriel (Jenkins) and James Samuel. He married the love of his life Maureen (Edger) on May 3, 1958. They enjoyed 60 devoted years together and lovingly raised their two children, Lynn and Karen.

John was a wonderful athlete, playing many sports in his early days with a focus on golf later on. One of his great passions was music – John played both trombone and drums. For many years, one of his most loved pastimes was being the drummer for the Ragweed Jazz Band in Ajax, Ontario. John will always be remembered as a kind, gentle, thoughtful and lovely man who was happiest surrounded by his family and friends.
John is survived and will be dearly missed by his loving wife Maureen; his two children Lynn and her husband Doug of Calgary and Karen of Seattle; his three grandsons, Sam, Max and Jack; his sister Jean Sturton of Seattle and many more extended family from Devon, England and Seattle, Washington.
A memorial service will be held at Everden Rust Funeral Home at 1910 Windsor Road, Kelowna, BC on Friday, July 6, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations in John’s name may be made to a charity of your choice or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (www.heartandstroke.ca).
