Johanna (Bach) Marrison
February 29, 1924 ~ June 13, 2018
Wednesday, June 13, 2018. What a beautiful day for our beautiful Mom,
Johanna Marrison (94 years)! This is the special day the Lord answered
her prayers and took her home to heaven from Norwood Hospice.
We thank the Lord for the gift of faith given to our mom at her Baptism and
for the Lord’s promise and assurance of eternal life in heaven for all who
believe in Him.
She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy of faith and love
her seven children: Marion, Pat, Bob, Doug, Shirley, Caroline, John; two
stepsons, Ken and Ron, and all their families which include 24 grandchildren
and 44 great-grandchildren.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Maria and William Bauer; two brothers,
Willie and Victor; her sister, Mary; first husband, William Bach; second husband,
Robert Marrison; son-in-law, Dennis; step-daughter, Janie, and daughter, Linda.
Even as we miss Mom dearly we are filled with thanksgiving for the Lord’s blessings
throughout her life and the precious blessing she has been in our lives. Mom was an
amazing woman of faith, much love, hard work, great hope, many talents and fervent
prayer, always ready with a word of encouragement. She loved family get-togethers,
playing cards and board games, reading a good book and especially her devotions each
mornings, sending emails to her family and looking at family on Facebook.
Her favourite pastime was sewing scraps of fabric together in creative ways to make
quilts to give away to others. On her difficult days Mom would always have a positive
outlook saying – “I ‘ll be Ok. It could be worse. The Lord will see me through.
I still have lots to be thankful for.”
We thank you all of you for the blessings you have been in Mom’s life – in Shevlin, in
Roblin, in Edmonton, in Sherwood Park, her church family at Bethel and her family of
friends at Silver Birch Lodge where she enjoyed the last years of her life.
We thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement these past weeks. We
are especially thankful for the care, compassion and respect our Mom received from
Dr. Morri-Torres, Dr. Walter, and all the nurses and hospital staff and for Mom’s
Pastors who provided words of comfort when they visited her.
A service of thanksgiving will be held Monday, June 25, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at
Bethel Lutheran Church, 298 Bethel Drive, Sherwood Park, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lutheran Hour, Glenrose Hospital,
Norwood Hospice or the charity of your choice.
