Obituary of Joan Alvarez
ALVAREZ: Joan Margaret (nee Logan) –
A resident of Highgate, Joan Alvarez passed away suddenly and peacefully at home on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the age of 74.
Born in Montreal, Joan was the daughter of the late Gordon and Margaret (Seidel) Logan and the late Vivian McLaughlan.
Beloved wife of 42 years to Ed Alvarez.
Loving mother of Heather Bradfield of Hamilton and Jamie Prowse of Barrie.
Proud Grammy of Shannon Bradfield, Meaghan Semple, Drayton Bradfield, Gary St. Amand, Corey Sawers and Dylan Sawers.
Great-Grammy to Taylor Bradfield, Samantha Waller, Nicholas Waller and Kelly Davidson-St. Amand.
Dear sister to Jim Moro, Roberta Moro, Susan Rolfe and Eloise Benedict.
Preceded in death by her daughter Janet Sawers and her granddaughter Amanda ‘Mandi’ Bradfield.
Also will be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended grandchildren and great-grandchildren, friends and extended family.
Joan volunteered at the Mary Webb Centre. She enjoyed painting and had eventually acquired her own pupil. She had been an active member of the Palmyra Women’s Institute and loved being surrounded by her family.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Donations made in memory of Joan to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
