Obituary Overview
Jennifer Adely Monague
In loving memory of
Jennifer Adely Monague
(nee Sunday)
June 30, 1950 – May 24, 2018
Adely was a cherished wife of Robert Clayton Monague Sr. for 46 years. Ad and Bob endured many challenges but remained a loving couple who withstood the test of time with their love for one another and their children. Their favourite times together were visiting with friends and family, cruising in the car, renovation projects, enjoying the comforts of home, and celebrations. Adely and Bob had a marriage, friendship and partnership that was, and will remain neverending.
Adely’s love for her children was her greatest accomplishment. It is said that the task of motherhood is one of the most difficult in all of humanity. The creation, nurturing and raising of children is a heavy responsibility and as such, she was a devoted mother to Peggy, Robert and Michelle for her entire adult life. The teachings she imparted to all of them was immeasurable. It is because of her own beliefs that each was raised with caring, helpful and kind hearts. Adely was especially comforted that they each chose wonderful partners in Michael McGregor, Adam Jelley, and Caroline Julien, who also became her children.
Adely adored her grandchildren and spent countless quality hours with Joshua, Jeremy, Monikka, Deserae, Abby, Violet and Erica. Her biggest delight with all of them was laughter. She enjoyed watching them dance at pow wows, participate in concerts, graduate, and most especially in celebrating their birthdays.
Of her many talents, Adely was a renowned artisan, creating works of traditional art for many dignitaries and crafts stores near and far. A history buff, she often was found at her computer or at the museum researching Christian Island history. Adely was also a graduate of Social Work from Loyalist College, certification that was a testament to something that she has done all her life– helping people. This generosity of spirit was learned from her parents, Enoch and Sophia Sunday, who instilled this in her from birth.
Adely is survived by her loving sisters and brothers, Velma Smith (Bennett), Margaret Monague (Ed), Vincent Sunday (Norma), Gilbert Sunday, Brenda Grosbeck, Tony Sunday (June), Myra Sunday, Mervin Sunday (Janet), Tracey Decaire (Wayne), Annabel Sunday, and Lisa Mixemong (Steve) and pre-deceased by sister Phyllis, and brothers Calvin (Annette) and Cameron Sunday. She was also a great sister-in-law to Yvonne, Rick, Irene, Mary Lou, and Betty spanning many memorable years.
Adely will return home Saturday evening on the 5 p.m. ferry to Christian Island and a service will be held at the Christian Island United Church or the Rec Centre upon her return.
