Jean L. Barks
(MacKenzie) Barks, 94, of K. E. Spencer Memorial Home, and formerly of
Camden Court, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, May
29, 2018.
Born in
Moncton, she was the daughter of the late H. N. MacKenzie and Alice
(Marks) MacKenzie. She was the last surviving member of her immediate
She is
survived by one son, Dr. John D. E. Barks (Karen) of Ann Arbor,
Michigan; one daughter, Peggy Frost (Ken) of Upper Coverdale; four
grandchildren, Amanda, Rebecca, Kevin (Kayla) and Sarah (Kyle); two
great grandsons, Kingston and
Jean was a
member of St. John’s United Church and was for many years a
faithful member of the choir. She was also a charter member of the UCW
and had been an executive member of a Unit many times; also, a charter
member of the 50-50 Couples Club; a charter member of Heritage
Moncton, Inc. and the Thomas Williams House Committee; also, a charter
member of the Women’s Probus Club. She was an active member
of The Moncton Symphony Foundation, Inc. and the Round Dance Club. For
many years she lived in Ottawa and was an active member of Woodroffe
United Church. But most of all, she enjoyed being with her

Mount Allison University and was employed in early years in the
Medical Department of CN.
Besides her
parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward A. Barks (2008)
and brothers, John and Donald
A memorial
service will be in St. John’s United Church, Alma St., on
Friday, June 1, 2018 at 3:00 pm conducted by the Rev. Aaron Billard. A
reception will follow in the Owen Fraser
donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital or St.
John’s United Church would be appreciated by the family.
