Janice (Jayce) Pearson, age 64, of Calgary, Alberta passed away early on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 surrounded by close friends and family at the Agape Hospice after succumbing to ailments caused by ALS.
Janice, born in Deep River, Ontario on October 16, 1953 graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in Physical Education. As a lifelong athlete, Janice belonged to many teams; playing volleyball at the university level and soccer and golf throughout her life. Janice spent many years of her life raising her three children in Sherwood Park, Alberta, where she worked in multiple professions and belonged to many sports teams. Janice loved to travel, camp and canoe with her family and friends, enjoyed watching her children play soccer and loved to watch hockey at all levels.
Janice will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Kristina (Jack McKee), Andrew (Adam Dombovari) and Nicholas (Lyndsey) Pearson; her close friend Mike Watkins; her three sisters, Pat Kisman, Barb (Doug) MacDonald and Carol Morrison Simmonds; and two brothers David and Stephen (Kim) Morrison; her five grandchildren, her many nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends. Janice was predeceased by her parents, Ian and Constance Morrison (nee Merritt); and her brother-in-law, John Simmonds.
Through the last four years of her life Janice received significant support from the ALS Society of Alberta helping her adapt to the disease. Janice would like any memorial donations in her memory to be directed to the ALS Society of Alberta and/or the Salvation Army. Janice would like to thank all the staff at the Agape Hospice in Calgary, Alberta for their caring support over the last few months.
Janice was a beacon of courage, hope, and love to all those who had the honour of knowing her. She will forever be in our hearts.
A Celebration of Janice’s Life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
