GIBSON, James Vincent John
Born August 23, 1930, in Acadia Valley, Alberta, James passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. He was predeceased by parents, John and Elizabeth Gibson; three brothers, Leonard (Betty), Donald (Rosemary), and Patrick (Gerry); and brothers-in-law Jack Young (Marie), and Patrick Hengen (Sandy). Left to cherish his memory is his wife Mary Ellen Hengen; step-daughters, Krista, Kayleen (Scott Goldie), Megan (Joel Fafard), and Joanna Mansbridge and their father Christopher Mansbridge; seven step-grandchildren, Alexandria Mansbridge, Rose, William, and Margaret Mansbridge-Goldie, Zachary, Fynn, and Theo Mansbridge-Fafard; sisters, Marie Young and Kathleen (Ron) Hanson; many Young and Hanson nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Tom Hengen (Shelley); sisters-in-law Noreen Cichocki (Ron), Joey Aleksich (Alan) and Shannon Hengen (Karl Skierszkan). James was a member of the Franciscan Order of Friars for forty years and will be fondly remembered by his Franciscan brothers. He earned degrees in Theology and Sacred Liturgy and was ordained in 1959, eventually serving in the Retreat Ministry. In 1992, he left the Franciscan order and married Mary Ellen. James was a prayerful man of patience, humour, wit, and compassion. He enjoyed music, poetry, sports, and a good detective novel. James loved as God loves and had a lifelong unfaltering trust and faith in the God of Life and Love. A private family service was held.
